How to use the golf video analysis, statistics, account, and training features
Prepared for the website and app users · App version 1.9.124 · Updated 19 October 2026
1. About the application
NICOLE GOLF LAB PRO is a golf training application for recording, storing, reviewing, and analysing golf-swing videos. The current release focuses on two video-analysis modes, local and cloud-assisted AI analysis, a video archive, golf statistics, Strokes Gained entry, goals, reports, and optional account and Premium features.
The app is a training aid. It does not replace a qualified golf coach, medical professional, or laboratory-grade biomechanical measurement. AI results are estimates and can be affected by the camera position, lighting, body occlusion, motion blur, and video quality.
Current release scope
- Classic video analysis with playback controls and drawing tools.
- AI Swing Analysis with an on-device MoveNet skeleton where available, cloud analysis when connected, and an offline fallback.
- Golf Statistics with an 18-hole scorecard, shot-by-shot Strokes Gained entry, history, benchmarks, trends, and exports.
- Account, profile, language, privacy, Premium membership, trainer/community features, FAQ, and support.
- The Swing Path Analysis section is not included in the current 1.9.124 release; it is intentionally paused for later development.
2. First launch and language
- Install the APK for direct phone testing, or install the application through Google Play when the published release is available.
- Open the application and review the home screen. The home screen provides entry points to recording, the gallery/archive, AI analysis, statistics, trainers/community, Premium, FAQ/support, and your account.
- Open Settings and select the application language. The app supports English and Czech, with additional language options shown when available in the current build.
- If you use an account, open My account and sign in or create a profile. You can also use the local video and analysis features without an account, subject to the applicable usage rules.
3. Create an account and manage your profile
Open My account from the home screen or account link. The account area is used for sign-in, registration, password reset, profile editing, membership status, usage information, and account deletion.
Registration fields
- First name and last name.
- Profile type: Amateur or Professional.
- Email address and a password of at least 10 characters.
- For a Professional profile: coach education, training city, website, region/country, and other optional professional information.
Account actions
- Sign in: enter the registered email and password.
- Forgot password: request a password-reset link if you cannot sign in.
- Edit profile: update your personal or professional profile information.
- Sign out: end the current account session on the device.
- Delete account: start the account-deletion flow from the app, or use the website page at https://nicolesport.com/delete-account/. Account deletion is a permanent action; read the confirmation carefully before completing it.
4. Record or import a video
From the home screen, choose the record-new-video control to use the phone camera, or choose the gallery control to select a video already stored on the phone. The selected video is stored in the application archive so that it can be reviewed later.
Recommended recording setup
- Record the complete swing: address, takeaway, backswing, downswing, impact, follow-through, and finish.
- Keep the full body visible, including feet, hands, and club when possible.
- Place the phone approximately 3–5 metres from the player and keep it stable.
- Use good lighting and avoid strong backlight.
- For AI analysis, slow-motion video or a high frame rate is strongly recommended. A fast swing in ordinary video may produce motion blur, missed keypoints, or less reliable skeleton tracking.
- For a Down-the-Line recording, place the camera behind the golfer and look along the target line. The current release includes a DTL reminder in analysis; this is guidance, not proof that the camera angle is correct.
5. Video archive
Open Video Archive to see videos saved on the device. Each item shows its title and date. Tap a video to open it in the classic analysis screen.
- Open and analyse a saved video.
- Download a video back to the phone gallery when the required system permission is granted.
- Share a saved video through the available phone sharing option, including WhatsApp when installed.
- Delete a video after confirming the deletion. Deleting the video is separate from deleting a saved AI analysis record.
Privacy note: videos remain stored locally on the device unless you choose to upload, share, or otherwise transmit them. Cloud AI analysis requires the selected video to be sent to the connected service for processing.
6. Classic video analysis
Choose a saved video and open Classic Analysis. This mode is used for manual frame-by-frame review and drawing directly over the video.
Playback controls
| Control | How to use it |
| Timeline slider | Drag the timeline to any point in the video. The current time and total duration are shown beside the slider. |
| Play / pause | Start or stop playback. The video can be reviewed repeatedly. |
| −1 frame / +1 frame | Move backward or forward by one video frame for detailed review. |
| Playback speed | Choose 0.1×, 0.25×, 0.5×, 1×, or 1.5×. Use 0.1× or 0.25× to inspect impact and club movement more slowly. |
| Compare with previous swing | Open the comparison screen when you want to compare the current swing with another saved analysis. |
Drawing tools
- Line: draw a reference line over the video.
- Circle: mark a body position, club position, or other area.
- Rectangle: highlight a region.
- Freehand: draw a freehand path.
- Angle: mark an angle for manual review.
- Zoom: use pinch to zoom. With two fingers, pan the zoomed video freely.
- Colour palette: select the drawing colour before adding an annotation.
- Delete last: remove only the most recently edited line, circle, rectangle, or other annotation.
- Delete all: remove every annotation after confirmation.
Classic analysis does not automatically identify the golf clubhead. Manual drawings are visual training aids and should not be interpreted as an automatic club-tracking result.
7. AI Swing Analysis
Open AI Swing Analysis from the home screen. Select Down the Line or Face On when prompted, then record a new video or choose one from the gallery.
AI analysis workflow
- Select the camera view: Down the Line is recommended for the first analysis; use Face On when that is the actual view of the video.
- Review the recording instructions and confirm that the whole body is visible, the phone is stable, lighting is adequate, and the swing is complete.
- Choose Record video or Choose video from gallery.
- Review the selected video and start Analyze my swing.
- Wait while the app loads the video, detects the body, separates swing phases, measures movement, evaluates technique, and prepares recommendations.
- Review the result source, overall score, primary issue, strengths, improvement areas, recommendation, exercise, phases, measurements, and skeleton overlay.
Result source labels
| Label | Meaning |
| Cloud AI result | The connected cloud AI service completed the analysis and generated the connected recommendations. |
| Local MoveNet result | The bundled MoveNet pose model calculated the result directly on the phone. The offline advice is rule-based and indicative. |
| Offline fallback result | The cloud service was unavailable and the app used fallback metrics and general rule-based advice. This is the least reliable result and does not replace a coach. |
Working offline
When the phone has no internet connection, the app attempts to calculate the analysis locally. If local processing cannot complete, it uses the offline fallback so that the user still receives a limited result. The skeleton and detailed metrics may be unavailable if the video does not provide enough reliable body detections.
AI playback and review
- Use the video player, timeline, playback speed, restart/start control, and frame stepping to inspect the swing.
- Use Show AI skeleton to display the detected body keypoints over the video when a valid skeleton sequence is available.
- Review confidence beside each metric. A low confidence value means that the app had weaker evidence for that metric.
- Use Share result with coach to prepare a result image/report when sharing is supported on the device.
- Open My swings to revisit previous AI analyses. Tap a saved item to reopen it. Use the delete action to remove only the analysis or the analysis together with its video.
8. Golf Statistics
Open Statistics to record rounds, review performance, set goals, inspect Strokes Gained, view history, and export data. Statistics are stored locally on the device and are designed to work offline.
Start a new round
- Choose New Round.
- Enter the course name and tee.
- Enter course par and course length.
- The app opens one hole at a time. Use Next Hole to move through the 18-hole scorecard.
- Save the round after entering the final hole.
Each hole has its own window
- Par, hole length, score, and putts.
- Drive direction: Fairway, Left, Right, or not recorded.
- Approach result: Green, Left, Right, or not recorded.
- Bunkers and penalty strokes.
- Optional hole note.
- Manual SG when you already have a trusted value.
- Detailed shot records for exact Strokes Gained calculation.
9. Strokes Gained: how to enter shots
For exact Strokes Gained, record one entry for one real shot. The basic calculation is: SG = expected strokes before − expected strokes after − strokes used − penalty strokes.
Fields for each shot
| Field | What to enter |
| Type | Off the Tee, Approach, Around the Green, Putting, or Penalty. |
| Start lie | The actual lie before the shot: Tee, Fairway, Rough, Sand, Recovery, Fringe, Green, or Other. |
| End lie | The actual lie after the shot using the same options. |
| Start distance | Distance to the hole before the shot, using the app’s chosen units. |
| End distance | Distance to the hole after the shot. A holed putt uses 0. |
| Expected before | The benchmark number of strokes expected from the start state. |
| Expected after | The benchmark number of strokes expected from the end state. |
| Strokes used | The actual number of strokes used for this shot, normally 1. |
| Penalty strokes | Any penalty strokes associated with the shot. |
Examples by category
- Off the Tee: Start lie = Tee; enter the tee distance. After the drive, record the actual end lie and remaining distance. Enter the next shot separately as Approach.
- Approach: record a shot from fairway, rough, or recovery toward the green. If it reaches the green, use End lie = Green and enter the remaining distance.
- Around the Green: use for a chip, pitch, or bunker shot near the green. Record the actual starting lie and the result after the shot.
- Putting: record every putt separately. Start lie = Green. For the holed putt, End distance = 0.
- Do not enter a whole-hole total into Expected before or Expected after. Those fields belong to one shot state.
10. Round History, periods, benchmarks, and exports
Round History lists saved rounds. Tap a round to open its details, including course information, score, score relative to par, putts, fairways, greens, bunkers, penalties, and Strokes Gained totals by hole when enough shot data is available.
Period summaries include one month, six months, and one year. The overview can show average score, average putts, fairway percentage, green percentage, bunkers, penalties, total SG, and SG categories: OTT (Off the Tee), APP (Approach), ATG (Around the Green), and PUTT.
Goals and local benchmarks
- Set a target handicap and a main practice focus.
- Choose a local benchmark profile by handicap or by a named reference player.
- The benchmark table shows illustrative expected-stroke values by distance and lie. It is not an official PGA Tour database.
SG trend chart and exports
- The trend chart compares recent saved rounds by OTT, APP, ATG, and PUTT categories.
- Export all shot records to CSV for spreadsheet analysis.
- Export a detailed PDF report for sharing or printing.
- Use Share with coach when you want to send a round summary or report using the phone’s sharing options.
11. Premium and professional access
Open Premium to review available plans and the benefits connected to the account. Premium provides unlimited AI swing analyses, unlimited video uploads, and the ability to share professional reports with a coach, subject to the membership status shown in the app.
| Plan | Price shown in the current release | Use |
| Premium – 30 days | 8.99 USD | Short-term Premium access. |
| Premium – 180 days | 44.99 USD | Six-month Premium access. |
| Premium – 365 days | 65.99 USD | One-year Premium access. |
| Professional / Trainer – 365 days | 99 USD | Professional/trainer access for one year. |
On Android, payment may be completed through Google Play Billing. On supported other platforms, the app may direct you to nicolesport.com for secure payment through the configured website payment provider. After payment, the app checks the membership status automatically; if the status is not updated immediately, return to My account after the payment confirmation has finished.
12. Trainers, community, lessons, and messages
- Trainers: search for registered golf professionals by name or city and review the public professional information available in the app.
- Community: use the community area for the available social and professional content.
- Lessons: open available golf lessons and educational content.
- Private messages: registered members can start a private conversation with a golf professional. Professional replies follow the account and conversation rules shown in the app.
- Report, block, mute, or appeal message actions are available where supported by the current conversation screen.
13. FAQ and support
Open FAQ / Support from the home screen when you need explanations about analysis, offline behaviour, privacy, accounts, payments, or common problems. Read the in-app warning that AI can make mistakes, especially when the video is fast, dark, obstructed, or recorded from an unsuitable camera view.
What to do when AI analysis fails
- Check that the video is no larger than 18 MB and no longer than 60 seconds for the safe analysis limits shown in the app.
- Use a complete, well-lit video with the whole body visible.
- Try slow motion or a higher frame rate.
- Try local/offline analysis if the cloud service is unavailable.
- If the cloud service times out, wait briefly and retry when connected. The app should preserve a local or fallback result when possible.
- If the result has no skeleton or says that data is unavailable, use a clearer video and ensure the player does not crop the body.
The AI advice and metrics are training guidance, not proof of fault. If an output conflicts with what you see in the video, repeat the recording or consult a qualified coach.
14. Privacy, storage, and account deletion
- Videos and local analysis history are stored on the device unless you choose to share or upload them.
- Cloud AI analysis requires the selected video to be transmitted to the connected analysis service.
- Use Settings to review language, autoplay, cache, terms, privacy, and local-storage information.
- To delete the account, use Delete account in My account or visit https://nicolesport.com/delete-account/. Follow the verification and confirmation steps. Account deletion is permanent and should be completed only when you are certain.
- Deleting an account is different from deleting one local video or one local analysis record.
15. Quick start checklist
- Create or open your account, or continue locally if you do not need account features.
- Record a complete slow-motion swing with the phone stable and the full body visible.
- Save the video and open it from the archive.
- Use Classic Analysis for manual playback, frame stepping, zoom, and drawing.
- Use AI Swing Analysis to receive skeleton, measurements, phase timing, and training guidance.
- Open Statistics after a round and enter each hole separately. For exact SG, enter each real shot with its start state, end state, distances, expected strokes, strokes used, and penalties.
- Review trends, goals, benchmark values, and export CSV/PDF reports when needed.
Important final note
NICOLE GOLF LAB PRO is designed to support practice and self-review. The quality of the result depends on the quality of the input. Record carefully, treat AI values as estimates, compare trends over time, and use a qualified golf coach for personal technical instruction.
